Lorenzo Tonda (b. 1992, Fiesole, Italy) is a visual artist working across figurative painting, polychrome sculpture, and site-specific public art. His practice explores the tension between classical heritage and technological evolution, focusing on human vulnerability and the search for balance amid contemporary turmoil.
Trained in traditional oil painting and fresco at the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence, Tonda uses 3D digital modeling as his primary conceptual laboratory. Within this virtual space, he sculpts figures and tests complex geometries—creating the unified foundation for his paintings, sculptures in resin, plaster, or bronze, and large-scale murals.
Drawing inspiration from Early Renaissance, Mannerist, and Metaphysical traditions, Tonda treats the human body as a narrative device. His figures strain against invisible forces, embodying a heroic effort to stay upright in a shifting world.
Represented by Gallery Poulsen in Copenhagen, Tonda bridges historical depth, digital methodology, and physical form.
